René Kemp, Universiteit Maastricht, Netherlands

René Kemp is professorial fellow at UNU-MERIT and professor of innovation and sustainable development at ICIS (international Center for Integrated Assessment and Sustainable Development), Maastricht University. He has 23 years of research experience on eco-innovation and sustainability transitions. A relevant project on eco-innovation is the project measuring eco-innovation of which René Kemp was the project leader and principal researcher.
He is member of the advisory group of the eco-innovation observatory (since 2010), member of the programme committee of the interdisciplinary Energy research programme of the Dutch research council NWO (since 2003), editor of the Springer book series "Sustainability and Innovation" (since 2004), member of the scientific board of ARTEC, University of Bremen (as of Dec 2007), advisory editor of Research Policy (as of Dec 2006). He was research director at STEP in Oslo and visiting researcher at IPTS in Seville, Harvard in Boston, Foscari University in Venice, SPRU in Brighton (UK), and CIRUS in Duebendorf (CH). He is editor of the special issue of on Eco-innovation dynamics for Industry & Innovation, together with Vanessa Oltra. With 3000 citations according to Google scholar he is one of most cited eco-innovation researchers.
