We are living in a world in which the international or global dimension in every day life is steadily increasing. Globalization is not new, but the last decennia the process has been boosted by technological developments in the field of transport of people, goods and information and by trade liberalization. Developments in ICT make it possible to organize human activities in a geographically spread way and that has far reaching consequences for all societies. The inhabitants of Planet Earth will have to learn by and while doing how to make developments more sustainable. How can they learn to live together in dignity, peace and mutual respect for each other and each others culture on that one planet without causing irreversible damage to it through their patterns of production and consumption?
