Tyler Folsom, Cogneta Inc.

Tyler Folsom is a project manager at QUEST Integrated Inc., Kent, WA, USA (www.qi2.com), where he has worked for 17 years. The company develops instruments for non-destructive testing. Dr. Folsom's recent work has been in creating software to automate the inspection of aging aircraft for external cracking.

Prof. Folsom taught Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at DigiPen Institute of Technology (www.digipen.edu) from 2000-2006. His specialties are Computational Intelligence, Machine Vision and Robotics. Dr Folsom participated in the DARPA Grand Challenge contests for autonomous vehicles (http://www.darpa.mil/grandchallenge). He designed the stereo vision system for Team Sleipnir in the 2005 race and in 2006-2007 was team leader for the University of British Columbia (http://www.ubcthunderbird.com/). He co-founded Cogneta Inc ((www.cogneta.com) to commercialize autonomous vehicle technology.

Dr. Folsom received his Ph.D. and M.S.E.E. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington. He received an M.A. in Mathematics from the University of Maryland and a B.S. in Mathematics from Villanova University. He is licensed as a Professional Engineer.
